Ben Belfield is Long Island University men’s head golf coach, leading the Sharks in the Northeast Conference at the NCAA‑Division I level. He has guided the program to NEC‑level success, including a conference‑title‑level season where LIU swept NEC postseason awards and earned NCAA‑Championship‑level exposure. Belfield emphasizes fundamentals, scoring‑oriented play, and a strong tournament schedule, working to position the Sharks as a consistent NEC‑championship‑and‑postseason‑contending program.

Women's Coach Bio

Sara Detlefsen serves as head women's golf coach at Long Island University since October 2024, bringing LPGA Class A Teaching Professional credentials and a master's in public administration from Florida Gulf Coast University. A former FGCU Division I player and Symetra Tour professional (2015-2021), she previously coordinated LPGA Foundation programs, taught at Sanford POWER Golf Academy, and directed instruction at Raptor Bay.
