University of Montevallo is Alabama's only public liberal arts college, founded in 1896 as the Alabama Girls' Industrial School in Montevallo. Now coeducational, it offers bachelor's and master's programs across arts, business, education, and sciences on a picturesque Olmsted Brothers-designed campus listed on the National Register. Highlights include small classes, NCAA Division II Falcons athletics, and historic Reynolds Hall.
