ASU competes at the very highest level of D1 Golf. Their schedule is one of the three toughest every year. They’ve been ranked inside the top 10 for 8 straight years. Most of their players in the starting five are ranked inside 100 in WAGR.

Women's Team Notes

Sun Devils averaged 286.4 team score (71.68 per player) over 38 rounds in 13 tournaments, firing 18 par-or-better rounds and 56 sub-71s. Patience Rhodes' 66 anchored Gold Canyon Regional; Beth Coulter and Paula Schulz-Hanssen delivered multiple 60s for national contention.

Men's Coach Bio

Matt Thurmond is Arizona State men’s head golf coach. He has been coaching D1 golf since 2001 while at the University of Washington. One of the premier college golf coaches, Coach Thurmond has consistently had ASU in the top position in conference play and the top-10 nationally. His players consistently rave about his personable coaching style, and many have gone on to the PGA and other pro tours. In October of 2024, he was named to the GCAA Hall of Fame.

Women's Coach Bio

Missy Farr‑Kaye is Arizona State women’s head golf coach and a central figure in the Sun Devils’ storied women’s‑golf tradition. She has guided the team to multiple NCAA‑Championship appearances and has helped install Arizona State as a consistent national‑level contender, with players often ranking among the top amateurs in the country. Her coaching style blends strong technical instruction with a focus on mental‑toughness and preparation for both collegiate and professional careers.
